Meet your placenta encapsulation specialist

familyMy name is Denessa Hicks and I am passionate about empowering women through support, encouragement, and education during pregnancy and throughout life. I dove head first into the birth world after witnessing my first birth. There was so much fear that the beautiful emotions (joy, excitement) had been muted. Never again did I want any woman to feel like that during labor. So I began my journey to becoming a birth professional. Since attending that birth, I have certified as a childbirth educator, birth doula, and placenta encapsulation specialist. During my studies, I have given birth to four amazing children.

My interest in placenta encapsulation didn’t come until later. Two of my births have ended in severe postpartum hemorrhaging. This left me anemic, weak, and unable to care for my children. To make my situation more complicated, I had given birth four times in less than four years. My body was exhausted and recovery was even slower. When I learned about placenta encapsulation and how it could help (not to mention I wasn’t pumping harmful chemicals into my body), I was sold! When I experienced the restorative powers of the placenta for myself, I decided that no new mother should have to struggle like I did. So I decided to become a placenta encapsulation specialist!

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for over twelve years.  I am a proud military wife and mother to four gorgeous children who are all less than 4 years apart (Yes! I gave birth FOUR times in less than FOUR years!).  When my children aren’t keeping me busy, I frequent local mom groups, work on various crochet projects, continue to further my education, and support new and expecting mamas.
